Money Making Opportunities for Stay at Home Moms

Posted on July 5, 2015 in Uncategorized

Wow that title is a mouthful, but I hope it gets the point across! A quick search online will reveal all kinds of business opportunities for stay at home moms, dads, and really anyone. However, many of them only make the “recruiter” the real money while the person registering (YOU) is out anywhere from $500-$3000. So really, the way to make money in those businesses is to be on the recruiting side of things rather than the actual selling of products or services. So in light of that, we’re not going to discuss those types of opportunities today. So what are some actual things that you can do today without an actual required investment and make a substantial supplemental income? Les discuss.

Skills Analysis. What are your talents, hobbies, work experiences? Do your friends and family members ever come to you with questions that only you can answer? In your spare time, what do you look up online? What are the books you read? What are the topics of your conversation? Rather than try to keep all of these things memorized and in your head, dedicate a notebook to this. Write down your thoughts and ideas so you can always refer to them later.

Needs Analysis. With your new notebook and newly discovered note taking skills, go out and find problems. What I mean by that, what are common problems or needs that people have that you might be able to fulfill. For example, in your area there might be an overabundance of busy working professionals who are also pet owners. Do you like pets? Ever consider a pet walking or mobile pet care/cleaning service? Do you have a home office and a phone? There are hundreds if not thousands of opportunities with those two simple things. There are businesses that will pay you for your assistance to make calls and do research among other things.

Opportunities. I’ve read many articles and reviewed websites that talk about ideas. Some good and some eh. So lets talk about what you can actually do and then get out there and make it happen.

-Telesales: With a dedicated room, computer, and a phone, there is a world of opportunity at your finger tips. Appointment setting, inbound sales, virtual administrative assistant. Do a quick search on Craigslist in your area under the jobs section and you will find quite a few opportunities for companies looking right away.

-Amazon: The largest marketplace in the world where thousands of sales are made a day. If not every hour! This isn’t a comprehensive description of the opportunity, but Fulfilled by Amazon has transformed the lives of many people for the better. This is the classic “by low and sell high” model. The beautiful thing is that FBA handles almost all of the logistics for you. Granted, it’s not easy, or else everyone would be doing it haha. You can actually start by finding things in your home, checking to see if those things actually sell on Amazon, and then creating a listing, and shipping it out to an Amazon fulfillment center. Sure they’ll take a small chunk of the sale, but it’s a bargain for everything they offer. Again, probably not the first thing to do if you don’t have any money to pay for the $40/month Amazon pro seller account, but there is a wealth of information and success stories you can find online. Don’t, and I repeat, DO NOT, sign up for a $3,000 mentoring group right away. You can make money without paying that kind of money upfront.

-Flier Distribution. If you jog, run, walk your neighborhood, there are solar power companies, insurance agencies, home improvement businesses (windows, flooring, window washing), who will pay you to spread the “good word”, or they would actually call it “canvassing” a neighborhood. Again, this is supplemental income, you’re probably not going to make your millions here. There is a need, just keep in mind, it will be a nice supplement to your current income.

-Copy writing. If you’re a strong writer, and enjoy doing it…heck, I’d even pay for your services haha. Business owners who need a strong web presence, will always have need for good content. Odesk, elance, fiverr, just to name a few, are ripe with opportunities for writers. This is something that can be done in your spare time and can help you make $100-$200/day if you produce quality work.
